Part One: Who is God?

G od is the creator and sustainer of all, sovereign over the universe. The most impacting thing you will ever hear is the truth of the Gospel, so for the next little while we'll be delving deeper into the Gospel, God's redemptive plan, and His way of salvation. This is a four part series, consisting of:       1) God's character       2) Man's depravity       3) Christ's death on the cross       4) Christ's resurrection Who is God? What is He like? God is Spirit “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24) God does not have a body. He is invisible. You may point to different  passages in the Holy Bible that talk about God having hands and eyes - so God must have a body [ 2 Chronicles 29:6, Ecclesiastes 9:1 ]. These passages are referring to characteristics of God and are explained in pictures we can relate to....

Providence

Providence. What is providence? Of what relevance is God's providence? Providence simply means to foresee. Pro [before] / videre [to see]. But what good is knowing the future and not doing anything about it? God's providence ties in with His omniscience (all knowing). He sees beforehand everything that is going to happen. Not only that, He knows it and orchestrates it. That being said, if God is truly in control and orbiting every action and circumstance, both for us and around us, why on earth do we have any ground at all to worry? About anything? Simple answer? We don't. "Worry is taking your problems out of God's hands and into your own because deep down you don't think He's capable enough to take care of them." - Voddie Baucham Worry is a sin. Anxiety is a sin. Whatever happened to trusting God, wholly and completely? Easier said than done. Trust me, I know. I'm a worrier. It's probably genetic, but that's no excuse. Consider Ro...

Living For Eternity

Hello! I thought I would start out with a deep topic, and it will kind of give you an overview of what we will be writing about and why. (For clarity’s sake, when I say eternity, I don’t mean a mathematical concept of infinity usually represented by a sideways 8. I mean infinite life after death.) I pray that God uses this to edify you. God has used it to encourage and correct me! Why do we care about eternity? Picture this, you’re going to spend a whole week at a party held by a King or Queen to honour your accomplishment in representing them well, but you only found out a day before you had to leave. What would your thoughts be? Option #1: Hmm, I have one day to relax and do whatever I want before I leave. Maybe I’ll do this or that. Option #2: Sticky Peanut butter! I only have one day to make an impact for the King or Queen on the people around me before I have to go! I had better get ready! I’m guessing, if you’re thinking rationally, you would pick option two. You’re going to...

Introduction

Ahhhh! This is so exciting! Berea and I have been wanting to write a blog together for a long time! There are a lot of squeals of laughter being passed through the phone right now! It's crazy to see this coming together! As an introduction to who we are, Berea and I have been childhood friends since we were six years old. These were our first words to each other: Brooke: "Do you like dolls?" Berea: "Do you want to see my room?" And from there we have grown up a little. Berea, who lives with her family in Nova Scotia, is quiet when you first meet her but very emotionally expressive once she opens up! She thinks a lot, and is very people and relationship oriented. She has grown in her love for God and his word! I always love to get a phone call from her, and hear about what God is teaching her and the verses that He has opened her eyes to. She's the dreamer between the two of us. She comes up with all the ideas and plans, and we dive head first into th...
